Monthly Staff Bus Charter in Singapore: Is the ROI Worth It?LTA-Licensed | UEN 53379842J | Established 2018
A costed guide for HR and operations teams weighing a fixed monthly staff shuttle against ad hoc ride-hailing claims. A worked example on our published rates, the point where a shuttle starts to pay for itself, and what the monthly figure covers.
Who Puts A Shuttle On The Books
The organisations that cost this out and sign a monthly contract are mostly employers running the same route every working day, alongside schools and universities with fixed programme runs, government and public-sector teams, hotels, and religious and community groups on a standing schedule. We have kept these routes moving across Singapore since 2018, and the people who ride them hold our rating at 4.8 stars over 184 Google reviews.

Is a monthly staff bus charter cheaper than booking trips one at a time?
For a route that repeats every working day, usually yes. A monthly contract fixes the route, the timing and the price up front, so the figure on your budget line stops moving. On our published rate a 45-seater is SGD 100 per trip, so a morning and evening run for 30 staff is SGD 200 a day, or about SGD 3.33 per person per trip. Ad hoc booking still suits one-off events. For a daily commute a contract is easier to budget, easier to reconcile and far less admin. Rates are on the pricing page, and we will work out a monthly figure for your own route.
What ad hoc staff transport costs you
Three costs that never appear on the trip price.
Peak hour surge pricing
Rain or a jam on the CTE pushes ride-hailing fares up at exactly the moment your whole shift needs to move, and you only find out what it cost after the trip. A charter rate is agreed before the job and does not move.
Claims and reconciliation
Thirty staff taking two rides a day across 22 working days produce 1,320 separate receipts for finance to check, approve and reconcile every month. A monthly contract replaces the lot with one invoice under UEN 53379842J.
Staggered arrivals
Separate cars mean separate wait times, separate routes and the occasional cancellation. On a production line or a shift handover, a few late arrivals hold up everyone who turned up on time.
The part finance feels first
Surge pricing in the morning and evening peaks, HR and finance time spent processing individual claims, arrival times nobody can plan around, and a team that travels apart instead of together.
A worked example: 30 staff on a daily Tuas run
The arithmetic on a route we are asked about constantly, moving a 30-person shift from a central MRT station out to a facility in Tuas or on Jurong Island.
| What you are paying for | Our published rate |
|---|---|
| 45-seater coach, one trip | SGD 100 |
| Return run, morning and evening | SGD 200 per day |
| 22 working days | SGD 4,400 per month |
| Across a full year | SGD 52,800 |
| Cost per person per trip, 30 staff, 60 person trips a day | About SGD 3.33 |
Every figure above is our own published rate, so you can check it against the pricing page. We deliberately do not publish ride-hailing fares, because they move with demand and surge in peak hour and rain.
Test it against your own claim data
Take your average ride-hailing fare per person per trip and multiply it by 60 for a 30-person return day. Anything above about SGD 3.33 per person per trip and the coach is the cheaper option. As an illustration only, at an assumed SGD 20 average fare that day costs SGD 1,200 against SGD 200 for the coach, or SGD 26,400 a month against SGD 4,400. Treat the SGD 20 as your input to replace, not as our quote.
Based on our published point to point rate for a 45-seater, with a single pickup point and a single drop-off. A contract quote can differ with distance, headcount and the number of pickup or drop-off points. Extra stops are SGD 20 per stop, per vehicle, and a SGD 20 midnight surcharge applies to runs between 11pm and 7am. Monthly contracts are quoted individually rather than from a fixed price list.
When a monthly shuttle starts to pay
Two things decide it: how many people share the route, and how often it runs.
The headcount that changes the answer
On a route that repeats daily, a coach usually becomes the cheaper option from around ten people up, because the fixed daily rate spreads across more seats and the admin saving grows with every extra claimant. For a one-off group trip, where there is no recurring paperwork, the break-even sits nearer fifteen people. We work that case through on the bus charter versus Grab or taxi page.
How often the route runs
A route that runs five mornings a week carries the fixed cost far better than one that runs twice a month. If your pattern repeats, a contract is usually the cheaper and simpler arrangement. If it does not, per-trip booking may still be the right call.
Monthly against per trip
Monthly contracts are quoted individually rather than from a fixed price list, because route, distance, frequency and vehicle size all move the figure. Because a contract guarantees the route volume, the monthly rate is normally set at least 15 per cent below the cost of booking the same trips one at a time, and on a dense daily route it often lands further below that. Ask and we will show you both figures side by side.
Where the value shows up
Returns that are real but never land on an invoice.
Fewer late starts
When staff share one reliable bus, more of them arrive together and on time. That can mean fewer late starts for shifts and meetings, which is hard to put a price on but easy to feel on a busy morning.
Reach to hard to serve areas
Places like Tuas, Jurong Island and Changi Business Park can be slow to reach by public transport. A direct shuttle brings your team closer to the door, which widens the pool of people who can realistically take the job.
One team, one number
Instead of chasing a different provider for each trip, you deal with one operator for the whole month. That saves your HR or operations team time, and staff time has a cost too.
Zones where a shuttle earns its keep
The estates public transport reaches slowly are the same ones where ride-hailing costs the most.
Tuas and Jurong Island
Heavy industry running to strict shift timings. A 49-seater moves a full shift change in one run, so the whole team clocks in together instead of trickling in. Our Jurong bus charter page covers the west in detail.
Changi Business Park
Well placed for multinationals and slow going in the morning peak. A 23-seater minibus runs from an east side MRT straight to your lobby, which is usually quicker than the last-mile leg staff would take on their own.
Seletar Aerospace Park
Off the main transport arteries, so getting staff there reliably takes dedicated transport. On sites like this a shuttle does as much work in recruitment and retention as it does in attendance.
What the monthly rate covers
One agreed figure for the term, with nothing to settle trip by trip.
A dedicated coach and driver
The same vehicle and a regular driver assigned to your route, so your team sees a familiar face and the driver learns the pickup points.
A fixed schedule
Departure times agreed in the contract and held, so staff can plan their morning around them rather than around an app.
No per-trip extras
Driver, fuel, ERP and parking all sit inside the monthly figure, and there is no GST on top. The rate is fixed for the term.
One monthly invoice
Consolidated billing under UEN 53379842J, in place of a month of individual claims for finance to reconcile.
A direct line to operations
A contact number for your transport coordinator, so a change on the day goes straight to the people running the route.
Cover and calendar flexibility
A briefed relief driver keeps the route running if your regular driver is unavailable, and non-operational days such as gazetted public holidays are factored in when the contract is priced.
The part that never shows on a spreadsheet
Staff start the day seated in air conditioning instead of queueing in the rain or hunting for a car. On hard to reach sites that is a recruitment and retention argument as much as a transport one. Full detail is on the monthly contract page.
How to weigh it up for your team
A few plain questions to help you decide if a monthly plan fits.
Count the real trips
Add up how many staff journeys you actually run in a month, and how much time your team spends arranging them. If the same pattern repeats week after week, a fixed monthly plan often makes more sense than booking each trip on its own.
Match the bus to the headcount
We run a 23-seater minibus, a 45-seater coach and a 49-seater coach, all air-conditioned with seatbelts and licensed drivers. Picking the right size means you pay for the seats you need, not empty ones.
Think about reliability
A missed commute can cost a full shift of work. A steady contract with the same operator and clear timings lowers that risk, which is a real part of the return even though it never shows up on an invoice.
Ask for a route quote
Every workplace is different, so the best way to see the value is to get a figure for your own route. Tell us your pickup points, timing and headcount, and we will work out a monthly price.

What corporate planners say
Two of the 184 Google reviews behind our 4.8 rating.
We recently booked two-way transport with Singapore Bus Charter for a special corporate event, and the experience was smooth and professional from the start. Due to the nature of our event, we had to make not just one but two changes to our booking. We truly appreciate that both changes were accommodated as goodwill gestures. Communication was prompt, courteous, and clear throughout, which made the coordination easy.Priya Ravindran
