How Many People Fit in a Bus Charter in Singapore?GROUP SIZE TO BUS SIZE, MATCHED IN ONE PAGE

Work out the right vehicle for your headcount before you book, not after. This guide matches group sizes to the 23, 45 and 49 seater coaches in our fleet, and shows the point where one bus stops being enough.

How many people fit in a bus charter in Singapore?

The largest vehicle in the Singapore Bus Charter fleet seats 49 passengers. We run three sizes: a 23 seater minibus for small groups, a 45 seater coach for mid sized groups, and a 49 seater coach for the biggest single vehicle bookings. The driver has a separate seat, so all 49 are passenger seats. Groups above 49 travel on two or more of our coaches.

Bus Charter Capacity in Singapore: The Short Version

Three vehicle sizes cover almost every group in Singapore. Here is how many passengers each one seats and the trips it suits. Full seat plans, storage layout and dimensions live on the fleet page.

23 Seater Minibus: up to 23 passengers

The smallest vehicle we operate. It seats 23 passengers, and the driver has a separate seat that is not counted. Popular for department outings, hotel to venue runs, small tour groups and family events.

23 seater details

45 Seater Coach: up to 45 passengers

A full size coach with 45 passenger seats. It is a good fit for school excursions, staff shuttles and wedding guest transfers, where keeping the whole group in one vehicle matters.

45 seater details

49 Seater Coach: up to 49 passengers

The largest single vehicle available for charter in our fleet, with 49 passenger seats. Four extra seats over the 45 seater buys useful breathing room on longer trips.

49 seater details

Rates start from SGD 85 per trip depending on vehicle. The full rate card, hourly and daily options and what is included sit on the pricing page. Every booking already covers driver, fuel, ERP charges and parking.

Match Your Headcount to the Right Bus

Count every person who will be on board, including teachers, chaperones, coordinators and anyone joining halfway. Then read down this ladder. If your number sits near the top of a band, move up one size. You can see the full range of trip types on the services hub.

Under 10 people

Still the 23 seater minibus. It is the smallest vehicle in the Singapore Bus Charter fleet, so there is no van or 13 seater tier to drop down to. The spare rows are useful for bags, equipment or a bit of space between colleagues.

Minibus for small outings

10 to 23 people

The 23 seater minibus is the right call. It parks in tighter spots than a full coach, which matters for condo driveways, school gates and older shophouse pickups. If everyone is bringing a checked suitcase, ask us about a 45 seater instead, because the minibus stores bags in a small undercarriage compartment and a fold down rear row that fill before the seats do.

Book a 23 seater

24 to 45 people

One 45 seater coach. Above 23 passengers a single minibus cannot take you, and one coach is simpler to coordinate than two minibuses: one pickup point, one driver to brief, one arrival time. A 45 seater suits school excursions, staff shuttles and wedding guest transfers because one vehicle keeps the whole group together.

Book a 45 seater

46 to 49 people

The 49 seater coach, the largest vehicle in our fleet. At 49 exactly you have zero spare seats, so double check your list before confirming. If your headcount is still moving, plan for two vehicles rather than hoping nobody extra turns up on the day.

Book a 49 seater

50 people and above

Two or more coaches, with the pickup times and routes planned so the vehicles travel as one convoy. The largest vehicle in the Singapore Bus Charter fleet seats 49 passengers, so the question becomes how to split the group cleanly and keep both buses on the same schedule.

How to seat a group of 50

Common Headcounts, Answered in One Line

These are the group sizes people ask about most. Each answer assumes normal day bags. Add checked luggage and the answer usually moves up one size.

20 pax

A 23 seater minibus fits comfortably for a day trip or a short transfer. Change the answer if everyone has a large suitcase: the minibus stores luggage in a small undercarriage compartment and a fold down rear row that fill before the seats do, so 20 airport passengers are better off on a 45 seater coach.

Luggage sizing guide

30 pax

One 45 seater coach. Thirty passengers is above the 23 seat limit of a minibus, and two minibuses means two drivers, two arrival times and twice the coordination. The single coach also leaves 15 free seats for bags, banners, catering trays or a few extra people.

Check current rates

40 pax

A 45 seater coach fits 40 people with five seats to spare. Move up to the 49 seater if the group is carrying gear, wearing formal clothing, or travelling more than an hour. The 49 seater usually costs only a little more per trip.

Wedding guest shuttles

100 pax

Three coaches. Two 49 seaters cover 98 people, so a round 100 needs a third vehicle, usually a 23 seater to carry the balance plus the organisers and equipment. We plan the pickup times and routes so the three coaches travel as one convoy.

Maximum Capacity Is Not the Same as Comfortable Capacity

Every seat count on this page is an absolute maximum, meaning every single seat is taken and nothing is left over. That is fine for a 20 minute hotel transfer. It gets tight fast on a three hour tour with gear on laps. Here is where groups usually decide to size up.

A full coach has nowhere to put anything

At 45 passengers in a 45 seater, there is no free seat for jackets, gift bags, laptop bags, a cooler box or a projector. Two or three spare seats change the whole feel of the trip, and they cost far less than the headache of a cramped ride.

School excursion: the worked example

A class of 40 students with 3 teachers is 43 passengers, which technically fits a 45 seater. Now add 43 backpacks, lunch packs, water bottles and sports equipment. The aisle fills, bags ride on laps and the teachers cannot move to supervise. The 49 seater gives six spare seats and more overhead space for the same trip.

Children count as one seat each

We plan one seat per person whatever their age, so count every child in your numbers. A group of 44 primary students and 4 teachers is 48 passengers, not 30, and 48 is the number we size the vehicle against.

Weddings and formal events

Guests in gowns, suits and heels take up more room than colleagues in polo shirts, and many arrive holding gifts. For guest shuttles between hotel, church, mosque, temple and banquet hall, size up one step and build in spare seats for late arrivals.

Wedding bus charter

Build in a small buffer

Headcounts move, so book two to four seats of margin. It is the cheapest insurance in group transport, because adding a second vehicle at the last minute costs a lot more than the spare seats would have.

Luggage Cuts Into How Many People Fit

Bags shrink your usable headcount, so for airport runs, overseas delegates and school camps, size up one step. A 23 seater stores luggage in a small undercarriage compartment and a fold down rear row that fill before the seats do, while the 45 and 49 seater coaches load bags into a deep underfloor hold that keeps the aisle clear. Send your bag count with your headcount and Singapore Bus Charter will confirm the fit, or read the luggage guide for the bag maths.

Changi Airport transfers

Arrivals carry checked cases, duty free bags and hand carry all at once, so a group that fits on paper runs out of boot space fast. Size up one step for any airport job, and tell us the flight number and bag count so we match the vehicle to the luggage, not just the headcount.

Airport transfer charter

Overseas delegates and conferences

Delegates land with check in suitcases, then add banners, boxes of collateral and exhibition gear for the event. Count the cargo, not just the people, and book a few spare seats so bags are not stacked in the aisle between the hotel and the venue.

Corporate bus charter

School camps and overnight trips

Camps mean sleeping bags, duffels, cooking gear and sports equipment on top of every student. A class that fits a 45 seater on a day trip often needs a 49 seater once the camp kit is loaded. Send the packing list with your headcount and we will size the coach for both.

Groups Over 49: How Many Buses You Need

Once you pass 49 passengers the maths becomes a simple ladder. We coordinate the departure times across all vehicles and give you a single point of contact for all drivers.

50 to 90 people: two coaches

Two 45 seaters carry 90 passengers, so anything from 50 up to 90 travels on two vehicles. Splitting 60 people into 30 and 30 also gives each bus half a hold of luggage space, which is usually more comfortable than one packed coach would have been.

Coach split for 50 passengers

91 to 98 people: two 49 seaters

Two 49 seater coaches take 98 passengers, the most our two largest vehicles can carry together. At 95 or more you are running both buses close to full, so confirm your final list a few days out and tell us about bulky luggage early.

99 and above: three or more coaches

From 99 passengers we plan a coordinated dispatch of three or more vehicles, matched to your pickup points and timing. Mixed fleets work well here, for example two 49 seaters plus a 23 seater for the remainder and the organising team.

Worked examples for 60 to 150 people

Two smaller buses for VIP and delegate runs

For board visits, conference speakers or overseas delegates landing at Changi, two smaller vehicles are worth considering when you need separate pickup points. Splitting a high stakes group across two vehicles also means any single delay affects only part of the group.

Corporate event transport

Multiple pickup points

Two buses also let you run two routes. A staff event can collect one group at the office and another at an MRT station, then converge at the venue. Give us the addresses and headcount per stop and we will build the split for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many people can a 45 seater bus hold in Singapore?
A 45 seater coach holds 45 passengers. The driver sits separately and is not counted in that 45, so you get the full number of seats for your group. Singapore Bus Charter runs the 45 seater for school excursions, staff shuttles and wedding guest transfers, because one vehicle keeps the whole group together.
Does the driver count as one of the seats?
No. The driver has a dedicated seat that is not part of the passenger count, so a 23 seater carries 23 passengers, a 45 seater carries 45 and a 49 seater carries 49. Our drivers hold a Class 4 or 4A driving licence and a Bus Driver's Vocational Licence.
Can a 49 seater coach fit 50 people?
No. We seat one passenger per seat and do not carry standing passengers on charter trips, so 50 people need a second vehicle. If you are at 50 or 51, a 49 seater plus a 23 seater minibus is usually the practical answer and gives you spare seats for luggage.
What is the difference between a 45 seater and a 49 seater coach?
Four seats, and a bit more luggage room. Both are full size air conditioned coaches with undercarriage storage, so the 49 seater is not a different class of vehicle, just a higher seat count with slightly more hold space. Four spare seats is the main reason to pick the 49 seater over the 45. Current rates for both are on the pricing page.
What size bus do I need for 30 pax?
One 45 seater coach. Thirty passengers is above the 23 seat limit of a minibus, and a single coach keeps everyone on one vehicle with one driver and one arrival time. The 15 spare seats also give you somewhere to put bags, banners and equipment on the way.
Is a 23 seater minibus enough for 20 people with luggage?
Only for light bags. Twenty people with day bags fit fine in a 23 seater. Give everyone a large checked suitcase and the rear boot fills before the seats do, so for an airport run with checked baggage, book a 45 seater coach and use the undercarriage hold instead.
How many buses do I need for 100 pax?
Three. Two 49 seater coaches cover 98 passengers, so 100 people need a third vehicle. Singapore Bus Charter usually pairs two 49 seaters with a 23 seater minibus for the balance, the organisers and any equipment, and coordinates the departure times across all three vehicles.
Should I book one 49 seater or two 23 seaters for 50 people?
Two 23 seaters seat 46 people, so 50 passengers need a 49 seater plus a 23 seater, or two 45 seaters. One larger coach keeps the group together from a single pickup point. Two smaller vehicles suit two collection points or two return times. Rates for each vehicle are on the pricing page.
What size bus do I need for 60 people?
Two vehicles. Sixty passengers is above the 49 seat limit of our largest coach, so the usual split is a 45 seater plus a 23 seater, or two 45 seaters if you want even numbers on each bus. Tell us your pickup points and Singapore Bus Charter will plan the split and the departure times for you.
Can you take my group across to Johor Bahru or Malaysia?
No. Singapore Bus Charter operates within Singapore only, including Sentosa and Jurong Island, and does not run cross border trips. Anywhere on the island is fair game, from Changi Airport to Tuas, and we can handle multiple pickup points on the same booking.

Group of seven or fewer and considering a maxi cab? Maxi cab against a 23 seater minibus compares them properly.
